As part of a series of digital packages created for GEICO Insurance, the Ultimate Guide to Home Protection site was one of the most successful projects within the series. Among the many goals of the site, user engagement was a priority to the client in an effort to increase their time on site metric. With this goal in mind, we conceived a highly detailed, exposed view of a home with dozens of hot spots that would explain the inner workings of maintaining a home. As a user scrolls, the house floors expand to reveal the intricate details within. After selling through the initial concept, I worked closely with illustrator Anton Egorov to create the art approach. One challenge was the requirement to represent how seasonal weather can affect different areas of the home, so we attempted to blend multiple seasons together in one scene. The level of detail is remarkable- there are several tiny animations that bring the home to life in subtle ways. Even the home’s address is an easter egg… it’s the same address as the GEICO corporate headquarters. This site was a monster hit with the client and was a Webby nominee for best long scroll site in 2019. You can view the live site here.
