Product Design: Mobile Apps

In my role as design director at Condé Nast, I led the product design of several mobile apps. In partnership with Adobe, and the Editorial Development Group led by Scott Dadich, I created templates and workflow for Vanity Fair’s first mobile and tablet editions. It was an enormous undertaking. Condensing the larger than life print edition into a much smaller reading experience was a true challenge. Tablets may not have saved the magazine industry, but this was a time of experimentation and learning that led our team to produce some amazing work.

After joining The New Yorker, my first task was to redesign the magazine’s award winning Going On About Town mobile app. With improved navigation and typography the app was successfully relaunched in July, 2015. It was nominated for, and won, several awards for design and interactivity in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, I created two mobile apps for the New Yorker Festival that featured complete listings, a Twitter feed, maps, and the ability to favorite the user's events for "My Festival".
